About International Wildlife Artist LINDA WAINLinda Wain

Linda Wain is a much sought after Wildlife Artist who now enjoys an International reputation. Being born in Derby she has always loved Derbyshire and now lives in Belper with her husband, dogs and barn owls Minty and Amber.

Linda started her working career at Royal Crown Derby where she stayed for 11 years painting mainly birds, figurines and jewellery. After a break of several years Linda decided to turn professional and paint for herself . Since that time Linda has seen and enjoyed the very rapid growth in popularity of her work.

Linda now works from her private studio and gallery in Belper where she often holds one woman exhibitions - often accompanied by one of her Owls who are the subjects for several paintings. Linda has always had a strong love of nature, animals and birds and choosing them as her main subject to paint was very easy in that it is a natural extension of this love.

To recreate parts of nature for people to enjoy and look at in their own homes gives Linda a great pleasure. Indeed many of her happiest times are when she is sat painting. Other times are whilst out obtaining material for her paintings. Imagine the great pleasure and privilege at being able to see and handle all sorts of birds and animals.

Linda has forged many friendships with a variety of people who look after a whole range of animals from the tiniest baby meercat to fully grown Siberian tigers and over the years has been fortunate enough to cradle and hand feed the tiniest of primates many of which were still wearing nappies, or just sitting in an enclosure with Arctic foxes playing around you, being able to hand feed a lemur monkey or maybe nursing a Racoon as well as flying a Barn Owl or maybe just sitting painting with one next to you also the absolute thrill of holding a four week old lion or tiger cub in your arms and feel it suckling on one of your fingers "It is totally magic” says Linda. This kind of experience allows photo opportunities that it would be very difficult to gain access to in the wild.

The true extent of Linda's travels and animal encounters throughout Africa, India and Europe is extensive, seeking out often elusive animals of all shapes and sizes to paint, sketch and photograph. “Up close in the UK is always a good experience” says Linda “but to see tigers in the wild whilst travelling in India just feet away is incredibly inspiring for anyone but for a wildlife artist and tiger lover !!!! - even if nerve racking when sat in an open top jeep without doors or windows for protection. Few people can lay claim to have been bitten by a tiger and be telling the truth.

Linda's work now hangs in many private collections around the world and she is well respected for her accurately detailed nature paintings of all kinds of British and Foreign wildlife, both mammals and birds as well as flowers. Some of Linda's pictures are now available as limited edition prints and several have been made into a range of Designer greetings cards.

Linda's chosen medium is ProColour Liquid Acrylics which has been developed for her by a top chemist in Canada to a secret formula using the very latest of resins and pigments to produce a paint product of the highest quality. Procolour is exclusively retailed by Linda throughout the UK and Europe.
